I loved it when I get this close. Most of these pic are within weeks of each other if not hours. Course there was tons done months before to get to this point but this is the rewarding part. Can’t wait till Thanksgiving when its all 100% done, furnished and decorated.
edit: guess I put to much in one post which is why its taking up more than the normal screen but the befores are on the left of this post and scrolling to the right are the afters…sorry

Cool. We're building a meditation room in a house here soon. Is yours just a room? Or is there anything special? I love your flooring, BTW.

I came over here from the other thread where you posted the floor sanding photos so knew that I would see some great shots.
That wall is what caught me offguard here. I like the use that can be made of the rounded boulders. It makes me want to tear down an extra basement wall to free the stones for such a project.
Andy doode, remembering back when you were tossin and turnin over buying the place..didn't take you too long<G>...and I knew you still have SOME grass around, ha.Great looking job...be happy<G> "what's in a name?" d'oh!
thanks man...and course I remember. Even wrote an article about it but don't think Finks interested..Their loss. Must be too funky...of course. Funk don't sell unless its sung by The Meters or Sly and the Family Stone.

Very nice work Andy.Specially liked the stone wall outside.Did you do the stone work? The floor in your meditation room came out excellent,is that old wide pine? Nice color too.
thanks for posting the pics!

Did you do the stone work? The floor in your meditation room came out excellent,is that old wide pine? Nice color too.>>>>didnt do the stone work...actually was 3-4 day laborers for four days and a big pile O rocks. The floor is 325 years old and the color is what I used through out the house. 1 part Cherry, 1 part English Chestnut and 1 part thinner.
Be well

weren't no laborers built that stone wall. They had half an idea what they were doing. The landscaping, the floors, and the bathroom are what I liked best. I'm interested in the soapstoine fabrication deal. is that likely to be an article in FHB?
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
I'm interested in the soapstoine fabrication deal. is that likely to be an article in FHB?>>>Justin never got back to me so I assume theyre not interested.
cutting soapstone isnt terribly difficult. Its just real slow and seriously dusty. Funny thing is the dust makes your whole body especially your hands and face feel like a babies skin when youre done. Its a different talc than talcum powder but its in the same family. The trick with any stone wall is saving flat sided ones for the tops.
I did a stone wall two houses ago that was the same height as this one and almost as long but it was river rock. I've seen river rock walls done horribly. People think because theyre flat they don't need to pick and choose where each one goes. that wall was cemented as well. The landscaping/grading was done by varies people from my archy, to two different mason/excavators and finally my landscape company. It just sort of evolved on its own through necessity and issues that came up.
It looked totally different three years ago to the point I "almost" don't remember what it looked like (almost). The first bathroom I did was also from scratch. Completly demoed half the top of this house which was 1950's shlock work then I built this bathroom (see below)...Its only one wall but the rest is in the same vein. I'll post pic when I finish it. KAtrina said it was the first to get started amnd will probably be the last to be finished.
Anyway...thanks
Be almost done...2 more weeks, 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks. 2 more w...

Its tumbled marble. Its such natural warm looking stone and a pleasure for me to work with...It also really compliments the soapstone counters..Its the same stuff I used in my master bathroom shower area and kitchen backsplash. I LOVEEEE that stuff!!

I couldn't really tell on my screen------ I particularly loved the color. Is there grout between each block?----On my screen it looks ---I don't know---like cork---or end grain wood blocks.
I have it in mind ( or something with an equal WOW factor ) for a kitchen floor, counter, surround project I have on my own account.
Thanks, Stephen
Andy,
Geez, and here I thought you spent all your time at BT getting paid under the table. Seriously though, it looks great, I can't wait to see it in person.
BTW, did you ever get published?

Wow Jon, thanks. I don't even know where pictures are anymore of the "way" befores other than those tatooed in my eyelids. That was sobering (so to speak). I'll have to try and see if I can file those in my personal picture catologue.Did I get published? Paid but not published and I don't think Justin or anyone at FHB is interested in my new concept I sent them partially written. Spose' its too out of the mainstream. I think the only reason they paid me for the original article was due to Andy E or Brian and Roe...and Roe is gone from there now for the most part so...
Personally I think articles like mine are kind of important but you rarely if ever see them in mainstream rags...MAybe Mother Jones might be interested in my newest endeavor. But how many people read that rag?
If nothing else I'll put it somewhere in the journal I've been writing in.
Thanks again my brother and speaking of which...say hi to yours for me.
Be well bro
