Bench-top thickness planers

I’m about to purchase a thickness planer and am trying to decide between the Makita 2012NB and the Dewalt DW735. Anyone have any experience with either or both? Thanks.

Pop over to knots...there's a lot of discussion on both of these. I have the DW735 with no complaints.
I'm not familar with 'knots'. Is it another forum on this site? Thanks.
It's the forum at Fine Woodworkinghttp://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots'Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it' ~ Chinese proverb
See wher it says reply look straight up yowards top of page it should say KNOTS click there
I think that depends on your screen resolution and browser size. For me the line between 'Outline' and 'MyForums' is above 'Reply'. =D

I've owned both of those machines. I prefer the Makita, though the Dewalt is also a fine machine. I think if your use is going to be heavy, the Makita will have fewer issues in the long run. I had to replace the drive cogs on my Dewalt a couple times. That was from prety much full time use in a school woodshop, though.
