Is there such a things as a best brand for an acrylic bathtub?
I have been in a few of the better name hotels that have had acryliv tubs and they actual buckled under my feet to make noise when I stepped in. How grant you I am not a skinny rail but I am not fat cow either. What I am looking for is a good brand of tub if there are different grades/models and are there different ways to intsall that could have caused the problems that I have seen in the past so that when I change out my old cast iron tub I can avoid this problem.
Also the old drain instead of the modern p-trap I have been advised to remove since this was done 97 years ago and this should be elimated from my bathroom floor. Any input on the being changed out and what to watch for?

We put a mortar bed under all the fiberglass tubs and showers we do, this will eliminate any flex. New construction it is easy to put in some mortar from behind after it is installed. Old work you can lay the mortar on the floor wet and then slide the tub in over it, work it down and then secure the tub.
Lasco makes decent units.

as does Kohler... (Sterling)Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->
WOW!!! What a Ride!Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I really like the Sterling / Kohler units. They have a design for the bottom side that is different from all the others. They offer a lot of support.
They are also made out of some newer material that Kohler developed. I like that too. It is very tough and durable.
They make a real nice remodeling package and best of all, they are very reasonably priced.
