Rogue Valley comes to mind...
I haven't had anyone ask for
I haven't had anyone ask for one in 20 years, but, back then, E.A. Nord in Everett, Washington had premium V.G. fir doors. VERY TOP GRADE. They may not even be around anymore ?
Dave
I just ordered an entry door from Simpson.
Probably not that high end but It should be fine for me.
It is by far the most exspensive door I've ever bought.
I am giving it to my wife for Christmas.
It wasn't in stock so is being made.
I think inventories are low right now.
They probably layed off a bunch of people.
I figure either a long time empoyee or the bosses son is building it. I hope it is the former! ;^)
I know - I asked because Simpson apparently isn't what it used to be.
In my experience, with a Simpson or Buffelen fir door, there's going to be at least a bit of light, sappy color on the A side and more on the B side. There's no escaping it.
Just hung a Simpson last week and noticed it was made in China.
Yea, I'll find out when I see
Yea, I'll find out when I see it. I plan on spending a fair amount of time finishing it. If there is uneven color in it I guess I'll have to even it out.
I think I would like to stain it darker anyway.
