I’m looking for recommendations for the most energy efficient window
manufacturer. I am completing the second half of a renovation of a 3000sf
barn. We used Craftline Windows with double panes and a center heat film
for thew first half. Unfortunately this company went bankrupt. I am now
considering using Hurd Windows with the same heat shield film. Any

*I'm assuming your looking for clad wood windows?I either use Kolbe& Kolbe or Vetter (made in the same plat as Crestline). As far as I can tell most windows are about the same just different options and frills.I also use 'Gentek' vinyl windows as replacements or new construction style. They've got a good warranty and an excelent service history. They're made in Canada, have to think that they know what they're doing. But thats just my opinion.

Marc,
When you compare "R" and "U" values of different windows be advised that some manufactures take overall averages and publish the results on all of their product lines. It's kinda like the EPA mileage sticker you see on new cars. I've always considered Andersen realistic in what they average out. Pella Designer and Architect series windows [not positive about their Proline series] are each and every one tested for air-infiltration before their assembly team packs the window for shipment. Visit your local yard and ask alot of questions. Scott
