Hi everyone. I have read conflicting advice to paint some cedarmill 4 By 10 sheets of Hardie Panel. I read on the Hardie site that Behr Solid Colour stain 100% Latex was recommended. However reading other sites , most painters say Behr is not that good and a Sherwin Williams paint is better.
Also the panels are primed but I would still like to give them another coat of primer. Any advice for primer ang top coat? Thank you.

Hardie recommends (or used to, last time I checked) 100% acrylic. Not merely "latex". Since acrylic polymer is the most durable of the polymers in "latex" paints, this is a wise recommendation.
I have not been thrilled with Behr lately. Sherwin-Williams or any of the top brands would be as good or better, so long as you choose 100% acrylic.
Do not use any alkyd (oil based) paints or primers on fiber cement. When oils are applied to an alkaline substrate they saponify and won't last long.
we use durations from sherwin williams w/ excellent results some 5 or more year old jobs look like the day they were done
Sherwin William is much better. I know from experience.
SW makes a high alkali primer called Loxon which is made for cementitious products and is excellent.
