I have a Hitachi NV65AH that I like a whole lot, but it is the only gun I have ever used with Hardi, so I cannot comment on others. I believe several guys here have also used the NV75AG, which is able to take 3" nails...the 65AH will only take 2 1/2" or smaller. I use the Maze hot dipped galvanized plastic coil nails and have had zero problems so far in over 750 sq. ft. on my own house...but I am no production siding installer either.

Still, I don't believe you will be disappointed with either of the Hitachis.

Thanks for the input, that was one of the models that was recommended by a local tool store.

Have also heard good things about the Makita AN611...which also takes up to 2 1/2" nails but have never used one. IIRC, like the Hitachis it is also a bit pricey. I think I paid somewhere around $360-380 delivered for mine.

tom .. for face nailing we use SS ring shank nails in our N64 bobstich coil siding nailers..

for blind nailing we use our roofing guns with hot dipped maze nails... 1 3/4"

      Mike,

What do you pay for a coil of 2" or 2 1/2" hot dipped Maze coils?  I can't seem to get anyone around here to carry them or order them.  It's driving me nuts.

By the way, what do you think of this?  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=56138&item=3816608139&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V  Legit?  I can't tell.  I emailed the seller, but they haven't responded.

Nails are carbon not stainless didn't tell me before ship - value OK

          JoeH,

Thanks for responding.  I had a feeling that it was a little too good to be true.  Still it's a good price for regular nails.

I'm trying to order in Halsteel trackers and also Paslode Floorgrip coil nails to try.  I can't seem to get anyone around here to order what I want.  Everyone carries those crappy Grip-Rite nails.  They come in from overseas and are cheap and jam a lot.  A couple of lumberyards that I asked had never heard of a 3 1/4" x .148" nail.  Drives me up the wall.  I can order them from Whitecap direct, but the shipping can't be cheap.

Any suggestions?  The only place I haven't tried yet for ordering is Home Depot.  They don't carry anything high quality, but maybe they can order nails?

If anyone is thinking of bidding on those Ebay nails, I'd say bad idea.

I went to the address that is listed down in his shipping terms.

It's an apartment complex populated by folks who don't speak English.

The actual "unit 303" is not an industrial unit, it's an apartment. The woman who finally answered the door claims to know nothing, "He" moved a month or two back.

He does not respond to email either.

You think those would fit in a Bostitch NC80 coil nailer?  I have an old one but had it rebuilt and it runs like a champ and have a Hardee siding job coming up.

      1. joeh | Jul 07, 2004 05:38am | #10

Jer, I talked to the Maze guys at the JLC show in Anaheim.

They worked with Hardee on these nails & have them for a lot of guns.

They are on line, probably some clever like  http://www.mazenails.com/ would be a place to start. I got a sample of them, supposed to fit my N64C. Haven't tried them yet though.
