Best rummage sale I may have ever hit…

Saw an ad for a rummage sale in Craigslist near me touting tools, tools. Normally these sales are not worth going out of your way for, but this turned out to be pretty wonderful.
Figure I got about $1500 worth of stuff for $280 total.
Guy was a hvac of some sort, here’s a partial listing of the deals I picked up. It was the first am of the sale so they weren’t negotiating prices, so the price paid was price marked.
Hastings 24″ fiberglass bolt cutters $15 (new approx. $140)
3m 600volt circuit tracer kit $25 (new $400 and up)
Klein long nut driver set $6 (new $40)
Dayton HD 3HP 11amp steel rolling wet-dry vac with bags $30 (New $350+)
Ridgid iron aluminum pipe wrenches $16 for 3 (new $88)
Lenox 4pc step drill kit new paid $50 (new cost $130)
Lenox adjust self ignite torch $10 (new $66)
Hilti fastener kit box full $10 (new $45-55)
Snapon 6 pc composite shaft non-conducting screwdriver set $20 (new ? $69)
+ a ton of fastener kits, anchor kits, etc. + some more stuff.
Minute I got there I started a pile and didn’t stop.
Real happy bout the circuit tracer – I’ve been wanting a good one for a long time – the one’s at HD or Lowes are crap.
All of the stuff is in mint shape, some new. He had a few other great deals of some items that I passed on as I didn’t need em…
I do love checking out garage sales.

brings back memories of some of my favorite yard sales! One was a contractor who did cabinet installs for HD - hurt his back in a motorcycle accident, and sold the farm. I got a Kreg jig, bessey clamps galore, belt sander, clamping straight-edges, scaffold and plank, bucket full of quick-release clamps, boxes of sq.-drive screws, nice Senco pin nailer, a really cool set of tapered bits with countersink, a pile of beautiful hardwoods, can't remember what all else.
funny thing is, my wife was out yardsale-ing by herself, and called me at home. I'm thinking, Oh-oh, what piece of junk furniture am I gonna have to go pick up now. Shame on me - she was calling to tell me Hey, you need to get over to this sale Pronto!
then there was the one where my wife found a book in the trash dumpster by the yard sale. The guy said it was part of a two-volume set, and since it was leather bound, his dog ate one of the volumes. So he threw the other one out. Turned out it was autographed by the author, Teddy Roosevelt - got $500 for that little gem!

I love yard sales, too. I found a Skil-saw, wormdrive for $5.00, last summer. He threw in a 3/4 in Milwaukee drill for free. The saw needed a cord and blade and now works like new. The drill probably could have been fixed but I didn't really have a use for it.
Yesterday I bought a used Bosch 4000 portable table saw, in good condition, with gravity lift stand. It works like new. I'm using it in the remodel of our small guest house.
Earlier this year I bought a box of hand tools, about 15 pounds worth for $5.00. It had complete Craftsman socket sets in English and Metric, including an impact set. Five or six adjustable wrenches. Lots more stuff than I'll ever need. Fodder for my yard sale! Norm
I am in a 12 step program for garage sale junkies and you had to go and bring this up??? While all the ladys are running to the parlor to look at the china im heading to the garage to look for shovels, Im sick and i cant help myself i tell ya, And here you hit the mother load;}
Hit another sale this am, and learned not to judge em from the street based on what you can see.Picked up a tiny Kohler 500 watt 38lb camping generator (made in Japan) for $75 - it wasn't even out and about - she mentioned it to me. Cute little genny - in the box with the manual. A little research shows it was also badged as a Dayton Generator back in the day (circa 1984)Also got a 3 drawer ball bearing roller base cabinet - seems to near hospital type quality - red, and in perfect almost new shape for $40. High quality castors and the corner rubber bumpers.Deals are my hobby, I may have a problem.Cool thing is - the circuit tracer I picked up yesterday for $25 - it'll trace the wiring through the walls and ceiling - how coll and usefull is that? That circuit tracer alone will save me so much time and energy - I'm very glad I found it.JT
