Hey now. What is your opinion or experience with caulk used to seal the air gap around the sill on the first floor? The floor will be poured concrete and the sill plate PT I assume. The frame will use a foam gasket but we want this inside as a second line of defense. This should remain dry and in the conditioned space so moisture and temp swing is not a concern. Is silicone fine or is an accoustic type caulk better? Any feedback is welcome.
The project I am working on has a slab foundation so I cannot use the rim joist wrap discussed with great zeal recently.
Thanks.

I've been using a caulk called "Big Gap" for window and door installs - and even in really bad trim situations. It's supposed to be able to handle 1" gaps without shrinking or cracking and it's paintable. Works for me!! - lol
I use OSI Pro Series Quad--it's a solvent-based polyurethane caulk. It sticks well to wood, brick, FC, concrete, etc.
Just keep in mind that with sill seal and caulk, if it rains while you're framing, you'll have to pump the water off the slab!

Thanks for the tip!!
I'll be applying this when I insulate and weatherize the rest of the envelope so it will be all closed up by then.
Thanks,

Geocel 2300.. .
And I see you..yep. It is the best for that. I have repaired work recently that GEO was used, when I say it sucks, it is because it was/is SO good.
where to find it? how much?DCG Your Neighbor's Contractor LLC"A wrongdoer is often a man who has left something undone, not always one who has done something."--Marcus Aurelius
Try a roofing supply company. ABC in the east coast and great lakes. It usually runs about $4.25 a tube. If you can't find it try going to Geocel website and contact them. I would not suggest the clear, it is optically clear, and you have a hard time telling if you have a constant seal. It is a fantastic product, if you have a void you can add more, it will seal to itself. Good luck and HAVE A HAPPY
Not sure what your screen name means, but reading between the lines I'm guessing you might know something about building materials off-gassing into the living space. You may want to look for a caulk with low/no VOCs.
