Best way to attach wooden girders to concrete piers?

What is the best way to attach wooden members to poured concrete piers? I know I could use a steel fasteners, called a Post Base (I think). I also know I could put a J-Bolt in the pier, put down a layer or two of roofing felt, and then bolt down a scrap of pressure treated wood, of which on top of sits my girders.
Are there more options? What works best? Also, in the option you describe as working best, what are all the materials needed?
Will be doing this next week, so am trying to figure out soon.
Thank you all,
Dan

Have you looked at Simpsons website yet?
Roofing felt
is vapor-permeable and will not stop moisture uptake into a wood girder (or any other wood) sitting directly on concrete. Most metal post bases are designed to put a layer of metal between the wood and concrete. I don't know what the engineering requirements are for your project, but I would choose something from Simpson that's installed into the wet concrete. Use a string line to keep them all in a row, and think ahead about where splices in the girder will be. The AB style of base allows you to use all-thread in the concrete and then install the bases with some adjustment built in. http://strongtie.com/products/connectors/AB-ABA-ABE-ABU.asp
Dan, try these links, depending on what you need to do:

Or, if none of these work for your situation, try this link:

Cheers, jacker
looks like David in the post above has the same link, sorry to step on your toes Davo
SO, with the Simpson Strong Ties, where two girders are meeting over the same pier, should I have two strong ties, each connected to the pier with separate bolts, to catch each one individually? Or do I have the butt ends meet in the middle of one of the ties?
