I’d be grateful if someone could share their expertise or experience with basement flooring. It’s a concrete floor covered with 9×9 tiles that I understand may contain asbestos. In places the floor has cracked, and some of the tiles have lifted or are loose and crumbling. Instead of removing the tiles, I’d like to cover the works over with some kind of sub-floor, and then lino or carpet. What’s the best way to do this? What kind of sub-floor would you recommend for a basement? It’s as dry as a basement gets, but flooding is never out of the question around here. In places, the floor has heaved. How would you deal with leveling it…or would you even bother? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
