Best way to cut through modified bitumen
Hi Everyone,
I am going to be removing just the 2nd story of a stucco exterior wall to reframe for new windows and reside with Hardieplank. The slider door walks out to a flat rubber membrane deck. The torch applied membrane (Brai SP4) rolls up the stucco wall about 4″ and has a metal flashing curfed into the stucco which laps over the membrane.
I need to replace the existing bottom plate so I will be cutting a horizontal line about 3 inches up from the deck floor. That means I’ll need to cut though the flashing, rubber membane (about 1/8 inch thick) and finally about 1″ of stucco. A grinder will take care of the flashing and a diamond blade on my skill saw for the stucco but I started to worry that the rubber layer will cause a big melting goo on my blades and keep them from doing the job on the stucco. Before I start cutting away I would love to know if anybody has had some experience with this. Thanks in advance.

Go with the diamond blade, just plow thru it. You'll see.

Damm, I miss that stuff
Thanks Sphere.
No problemo, we do it all the time. BTW, a segmented blade is not a good candidate for that, go with the continuouse rim. If it clogs, just find a handy rock and kerf it a time or two to unplug the diamond chips embedded on said wheel.
