Best way to fix a concrete walkway against a foundation
Hi all,
I have a concrete walkway already butt up against the foundation of my house. It has settled with too much slop from the home. What is the best way for me to redo this? Can I just rough up the existing concrete, make new forms and pour over top, or do I need to fully remove the old and start again? Also, when it is right up against the house, I have seen where the new concrete has been sloped/curved up to the foundation, but this leaves not expansion joint. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance for insights!

If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got.
If the sidewalk has settled because the ground underneath settled, a replacement poured on top will also move if the settling has not finished.
best practice would be to break it up and make sure the base is compacted and stable before pouring the replacement.
It also is important this close to a house (and anywhere) to make sure you allow for drainage of rain away from the house. It also is a good idea to catch and divert rain from the roof of the house away, so it does not dump out on the sidewalk.
Also, I'd make sure my rebar is pinned into the foundation every few feet.
Thank you! I appreciate the insight
