While measuring a mega $$ house for window treatments today the HO asked me to bid installing stain grade oak crown molding through out his upstairs, to match what he has on the first floor. This would include finishing it flat to match the stain and a couple of coats of varnish.
I’ve installed miles of paint grade crown, painted it, and I have a good handle on how long it takes but I have not done stain grade molding except in my own home. Any suggestions of what to figure labor as per ln. foot of molding? I can use that for starters and will have to go up in price on the bedroom with 9 corners in it.
Thanks

I'm buying standard unfinished oak crown for $3-4 a lineal ft.
Painter charges me $15 a piece for finishing them, matched stain, sealer and two coats of finish. Materials included.
Coping instead of miters I figure about 100 ft a day, good days more, bad days around there.
I add more time for vaulted ceilings or over 8' ceilings.
So figure out about how much you can install on a bad day, then add your total days up that you are positive you can finish by.
Materials+how much you need to make for each of those days=final price.

Thanks Matt, that's a good start
I can't tell you how much you need to make, just give you an idea of how I do it.
