Anyone ever install bifold doors so that all the doors fold to one side. I have a situation in a hall laundry where bifolds seem the only option (generally I avoid them), because there is no room for standard doors and no place for pocket doors to slide. The problem is that the bifold will cover part (10″) of the bathroom door when open if they are mounted in the standard configuration. The opening is 5′ wide so I am figuring four 15″ doors (notice I did the math all by myself), with a washer and dryer just inside the opening, side by side. Just wondering if there is a way to accordion all the doors to one side.
Thanks

Johnson Hardware has your options available. In addition, they have the 1601 hardware series which lets you open the folding doors so they sit flat against the wall, and all you have is the door thicknesses blocking the floor. It also allows full access to the opening.
What's the difference between stupidity and ambivalence?
I don't know & I don't care
Thanks, I went to their website and I believe the multi folding door kit is just the ticket. Ever use it?

Bill,
Pretend you don't have a full 60" (5 feet) to work with. Pretend you only have 59 1/4". Now your 15" wide doors won't fit.
After you mount the hinges, and after you leave a small gap at each end, you are gonna lose at least 3/4". You also need to allow for adjustment of the doors.
Exactly how much you lose will depend on the hinges themselves, and how much gap you want at each end.James DuHamel
James,
I understand that the doors will require spacing, but even if I need to lose an entire inch across four doors (equals eight edges) that is only 1/8 inch shaved off of each door rail. That is assuming that on these inexpensive bifold doors that they actually measure a full 15" in width, certainly not enough to worry about. What I was trying to determine was whether or not someone had any recent experience with the multi folding door hardware. I am concerned that it may not hold up over time, I have replaced enough bifold units to know how often they fail. I just don't have many options on this particular set up and it happens to be my own home.
What I would have loved to use was the retractable hinges on gliders that slide back into the space (like on tv cabinets) but for a full sized door they cost about $450 a pop, and that is too much to spend on this project...too many other uses for that money.
