I’m looking at replacing my now-dead Makita 12″ SCMS, and am leaning toward the Milwaukee. Home Depot has the saw for $549, +tax. The same saw can be found on the web for anwhere between 599 and 800. Because it is sold at HD, does that imply Milwaukee made a cheaper version of the saw for HD, as I’ve found in plumbing fixtures, or is this the same saw that’s sold everywhere? First post on the new incarnation of Breaktime. They could have done better. Lots better. Oh well.

milwaukee might make a low-cost big box version of something, but the model number will be different and close reading of the specs might reveal a lower amp motor.
Also check what comes with it. Maybe the HD version comes without a blade, for instance.
That MW slider is on blowout at Home Depot as of today for $299. Yes, you read that right, and it's correct. I called a couple near me to ask if they had it, and the tool clerk said 'oh, you mean the one for $299?'. So run, don't walk, if you want to get one.
Just called my store - $549 for the no box display.
Late to the party on this one.
Checked 3 HD's in town this morning - all that was left was the yellow shelf tags marked down from $549. to $299. Display models were gone also....
Would have done it at that price.......guess I'll stay with my 12" DeWalt DCM.

I guess HD found out how to make the saws move out of the stores, but I doubt they will repeat it.
I got to HD today, they were all sold out, yellow tag at $299. I checked other HD stores, and there are none of these saws in either RI, Conn, and eastern Mass HDs.
The HD sales clerk said the saws were discontinued. Yet they are still on the web, so maybe HD isn't gonna carry them any more; too much competition for the Ridgid?
Bummer.
