Today I replaced the cord on my 10-1/4″ Bigfoot. But I replaced it with a Milwaukee version. I think it was 12 gauge wire, maybe even 10.
I fired up the saw after I had finished and what a difference a thicker cord made. Its 20 degrees outside and it fired up like it was summer out.
Just thought I’d pass that on, new cord was $14 and installed in about 10 minutes. Might be a good idea for you hard core framers.

Matt,
That is intersting. I meant to ask Bob at Big Foot about that too. I have Milwaukee Big Boy with the thick cord, and the Bosch Big Boy and wondered why the cord was thin on the Bosch when the extension cord needs to be such a heavy guage.
It made a huge difference over the small cord that the original motor comes with. I have the Bigfoot mounted on a Bosch motor and it usually started a little slow when it was cold out or the first few cuts.
Thought maybe you and Brian, maybe Joe C. might find this useful. Woods favorite carpenter
I have an old Ryobi beam saw that I also replaced the cord on due to it's age. New cord was heavier.
I observed the same change in response when I fired it up with the new cord.
I imagine the larger cord would help prolong the saw motors life. No more slow start ups.

You may be right. I am not enough of an electrician to know. Makes sense to me though that it would and also help when the saw is under a heavy cutting load.
