I really like it and it gave me some great ideas. I especially think the drawer under the sink was very cool. Nice job. I'm not sure I like the wall oven breaking up the counter space like that. The jury is still out on that one. However, I think I like it! LOL!
It is so nice to see something different in a kitchen. Thanks for posting. Nice job
Also think its it looks great and the under sink drawer is really cool, did you custom build the cabs yourself, what's the material, and what's the finish?
cag- yes I built the cabs- the boxes are 3/4 maple ply, outside of cabs is a manufactured veneer "breawood"- if you can see the lines in the black, those are all different layers of veneer glued together in a mold and recut into veneer again. This is thier "Ebony" color. I used a cab acrylic lacquer over vinyl sealer for the finish.
I like it......As usual, you do good work......
Thanks, Teach!
Nice work, it looks great, and some neat interiors. I bet the sink draw was a pain to do, I hope it holds up. How did you support the shelf under the cook top?
dave- that drawer was fairly easy- I just made a regular drawer but boxed out the cutout section-put the bottom on & routed off the cutout... that shelf is supported by a couple 1 3/4" thick chunks of poplarthat are cantilievered off the center of the cab- that was a challenge
you do realize I will be forced to heavily 'borrow" from this. Will you share your cordless drill receipe?
barrow away, my brother.. but sharing the cordless, now that is another matter entirely...
I'd like to know what the plumber had to say about the sink drawer.

well, he did have to call me to find out how to disengage the drawer slides...
Gb, something just doesn't fit. Ill figure it out eventually and reserve comments for now.
please let me know...
It didn't sound good when I read the title , But thought that I would give it a look as I want to build a kitchen out of walnut . I was thinking that it would be too dark . Your counter top was the aproximate collor that I had planed . It did not look that dark or dingy as I thought it would. Thanks for posting the great work.
gb, nice kitchen! It looks kinda "art deco" to me. I think it would look cool with some old appliances like an old chrome toaster and drip coffee maker...
Don, you mention a walnut kitchen. Here's a picture of a walnut vanity I'm currently building in our new bathroom. It isn't a kitchen but you can get some sense for what a kitchen might look like in walnut.
Here's another picture of our kitchen that's in the same style but in cherry. The wood does make a big difference in the appearance and feel. I built the kitchen about 12 years ago and it's holding up well!
Hope this is useful...

thanks don-
Nice work, gb, it goes to show how creative you can be with kitchens, as long they are functional for the user. My question relates to the laminate top with the under mounted sink. We had a recent discussion on this and everyone thought this would be a future problem, with moisture around the edge. Any comments or suggestions? thanks, h.
I was wondering if anyone would ask about the counter- its limestone...the drop edge is mitered so you don't see the seam
