A number of years ago I had pretty good luck putting on Weathering Oil…I don’t remember the specific name of it, but it turned cedar grey just like the old stuff and then was supposed to wear off over a period of a year or two…by which time the cedar was supposed to turn grey due to the forces of nature.
Sure enough…it worked.
Sorry I can’t remember exactly what it was, though.

I have been doing cedar roof repairs here in Minneapolis for many years. Increasingly I am running into people who complain about the look of the new shakes I install in the midst of their existing roof. Is there anyone who can tell me of a way to prematurely gray these new shakes?
*Cabot's Bleaching Oil.No guarantee that the shingles will blend in now, one year from now, or stay that way for 10 years.

Cabots Bleaching Oil...
we usually mix it 50/50 with Cabots Silver Grey for that traditional ((Cape Cod))) look..
