Hi,
I bought two sodium light fixtures with the dusk to dawn light sensors built in, and both lights stayed on 24/7. So I bought an external sensor which mounts underneath and installed one in each light unit yesterday. I suppose you would say that there are now two sensors installed in a series since the built in sensors are still there. Well, it fixed the problem of coming on during the day, however at night, both will come on for a second or two, then go off for a second or two, they won’t stay on.
I have seen before that if you reverse the red and black wires on the sensor, this can happen, but normally it’s more random of a pattern. I’m wondering if there is some kind of problem with having the two sensors in a series and if I need to somehow bypass the internal sensor. I think I can rewire it to bypass the internal, but that would void my warranty on the lights. I actually took back the first one I bought because it stayed on day and night, and bought another and it did the same thing.
Maybe I should take them both back and try to find another brand.
Thanks,
Jon

It sounds to me like the sensors might be doing what sensors do, sensing the light, and turning it off.
(What happens if you cover the sensor -- does the light stay on?)
