Block or pier and beam foundation

Will be having a 24 x 50 house to be built in the ozarks was wondering what type of foundation.  Looking for cost comparison and pros and cons.

    What kind of pier and beams? Both have their merits. Biggest draw back to pier and beam is that open foundations are not tornado resistant at all.
