I am considering using this for hardwood flooring in my home, but have only seen it as an accent to other woods. Has anyone seen a large area done in bloodwood, and was the redness overwhelming? Also, I have found “relative stability” charts on some web sites but bloodwood is not included in any of them. Does anyone know where I can find this information? Or perhaps tell me what common wood it is similar to in terms of stability? Thanks for any and all responses. Casey

See if John Arno (sp?) is posting over there. I know that he does post from time to time on the different wood working forums.
And he is the one that would know.
Bloodwood for a floor? Wow. That stuff's expensive!
I don't think the color would be overwhelming. I've seen red saltillo tile floors that were just fine. Also, most of the red woods tend to age toward brown over time.
As for stability, that's a worry if you're building cabinet doors with it, but not for flooring. Flooring is nailed or glued securely to the subfloor, which will hold it in place even if it wants to move around a bit.
I saw it in the showroom of lumberliquidators.com. It's 3/4 inch solid Bloodwood, prefinished, and is on sale for $4.85 sq. ft. so the price seams reasonable. Thanks for the info. Casey
