Starts at $700. I'll wait until Black & Decker brings out a clone.

We use a Festool sander. Have you used one? I couldn't imagine going back to a Dewalt, PC, or much less, a Black and Decker. These cherman poys know how to make toolz.
Gene, what type of Festool sander are ya using? I was just looking at the little 5" RO sander in my catalog up in the shop today. I've went through a few little PC ones, but have had trouble with the bearings going out. I can tell the bearings on my current one are starting to go now too. Just curious if thats is the one you're using. One nice thing about the PC's is that the hose from the Festool vac fits perfectly on them. I need to order a bunch of little trinkets from Festool, and was thinking about adding a sander to the order too.

Judging from the size of the tennons I cant see how that thing would make a joint any stronger then a dowel system.
Your limited to small tennons, thats fine for small stuff but you arnt going to make any man doors with it.
At $700 I wouldnt buy one, I have a jig that I made for my router that can cut mortises up to 3" deep by any length and width that I want, its very accurate.

This machine has been available in Europe/Australia for some time, and the user reports I have seen on various forums have been glowing.
From what I understand, it is really a whole new concept, and can't really be compared to either a biscuit joiner or a doweling rig.
I agree with you that these people know how to make tools. My stack of systainers is getting pretty high.
