I’m having a new house built in Masschusetts. Do I need a blower door test performed the CO can be issued? At what stage is this test normally done, whether or not it is requires?

Asking about a blower door test
I posed this question hoping that a 'local' contractor would answer. I'm thinking it might be a Massachusetts requirement...
Are you having the test performed by the contractor as a condition of sale? Is it, or will it be, stipulated in the contract? If so, perhaps that's the reason for your question....?
If I were a contractor being bound by the results of a blower door test, I think I'd do one for myself at the earliest opportunity while I still have a chance to correct things.

test until house is complete. You won't get a useable reading until the house is in a ready to live in condition.
You can take some very simple and very effective air sealing steps while the house is being built.
I strongly suggest you educate yourself on this topic and request that the procedures you want are incorporated into the house by your builder.
The blower door test is required for Energy Star rating, but it is used as a proof of the air tightness of the house after it is finished.

Since WA state has an energy code and answers to this type question are readily and quickly available on the state web site, I took a 5 minute look at the MA state sites to see how lazy you are:

Within 2 minutes had brought up a MA map of counties and localities that have adopted the 'stretch' code of the 2009 codes, that will, by the way, be incorporated by 2014 in all fo MA, or so one site implies.
I aint even gonna tell you which one (if either or both or when) require a blower door test - go look it up your self.. Aint gonna give a link either, just in that kind of mood tonight.

Thank you for answering my question, albeit not intentionally. I know my town is not yet a 'stretch code' community. What I didn't know if the blower door test was a local requirement or a state requirement.
I hope you don't let your bitterness towards government ruin your holidays. I probably should tell you that my medical insurance increase was a smaller percentage than previous years. Even if it didn't, I wouldn't blame the government from trying to eliminate the greed and waste in our health care system.
