I have a question concerning prints. I have a Don Gardner house plan. I can’t figure out what “U.N.O.” means when labeling girders on the foundation and first floor framing plan.
example: (2) 2x10s (TYP) U.N.O.

Unless Noted Otherwise - thus he labels a couple as examples and you are to assume that they are all that size U.N.O.
Too much chocolate.
How is that possible..
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming.... WOW!!! What a Ride!
I know.
My GF and her dad gave me 3# xmas. It lasted all night, but, it wasn't too much.

I think that you are supposed to verbalize it.
example: (2) 2x10s (TYP), You know?

OK, I have one I need. Saw it once, but can't find it again.
Lots of times, a door doesn't need to be exactly 1' 4 3/8 inches from the corner. It can be whatever looks good and fits with the framing. What's the abbreviation for "whatever looks good and fits properly."?
On the domes I design, I include a lot of curves and cutouts. While I can describe these mathematically, of course, in the field I'd be as likely as not to just grab a #3 bar and bend it till I liked the curve. Is there an accepted abbreviation for "here's the precise dimensions, but feel free to eyeball it and do anything close that looks good"?

I've got three:
+/-
(Field Verify)
NCD = Non Critical Dimension
Most contractors understand the significant flexibility in dimensioned plans so I rarely use any of them except in remodel situations where rough openings need to be verified or something. On the other hand I do occasionally add a CD (Critical Dimension) notation on dimensions that have to be dead on for whatever reason.Kevin Halliburton
