I have a concrete front porchsurface with a roof over it. I want to surface it with bluestone but I am not sure how to edge it. The vertical conrete face in a few areas is cracking away, I am not worried about it structurally but it looks bad. I am thinking about scabing, with anchorage, a couple inches of concrete or sand mix to the face and then using sand mix for the grout. I have come up with this idea because the porch is two levels and I need to match the face of a brick wall that defines the edge of the second level. I don’t want to use bluestone vertically because I don;t think it will look good. Does anyone have any experience like I describe? Can anyone offer any comments? Thanks

I don't have an answer for you but the same problem...resurfacing a front porch. I'd like to add around 4" to the front of the porch floor and then have it covered with stone. My porch columns hang over the edge of the porch (see pictures).
I like the idea of carrying the stone down the front edge of the porch but I don't have the problem of matching up with the brick.
How deep are you digging for the new concrete foundation?
How far apart are your reinforcement rods?
I have no idea how to do this but I'm hiring someone to do it and I want to make sure we do it correctly and I'm going to dig the dirt out myself to save money.
Any information is very appreciated!
Thanks!

What is the first picture depicting?
The second, I see the halo outline of a prior post location, but nothing that indicates it's hanging off the slab.
thanks
Poor picture...here's another...the seam in the concrete is a step down...the post overhangs the existing porch.
Here is a picture of what I would like to do...but only on the porch and not the sidewalk.

How about a straight on shot of your porch.
Have you dug down or probed along the front of your porch to see if there's a footing/foundation brick ledge or something to hold any extension or the increased with of stone (if you intend to do the look in this picture?
