I’m about to start installing 1×10 board on board siding and I’m wondering if anyone has any installation tips. My plan is to install the first course with 7.5 inches of space between, and then overlap the second one inch on each first course board. Should I nail the centers of the boards, or just let them cup? Nail the second through the first, or try to miss them?

Like board and batt, but the top layer is a board, too, and the first layer is spread farther apart.Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a carpenter to build one.
Miss the first set of boards, nail the centers. Is the siding green? If it is, I'd sticker the second set for as long as possible and let the first set dry on the wall. I think the coverage you descibed is minimal if the lumber is green. I learned the hard way...

nail the first in the centers, nail the 2d on the edges as close to the first as possible.. NO NAIL should go thru both layers..
each board has to be able to expand and contract or they will not only cup, but they'll split too..
make sure you have good felt underlayment.. i'd use 30 lb. or equivelent... this type of siding is a notorious leaker..
also pay special attention to your flashings where your siding sits on horizontal features.. plan on using a break and custom bending special shapes with colored alum . coil stock..
keep your butt ends primed and off the flashings or they will wick moisture and rot your work fast
