Boric Acid Paper Insulation for Attic
I am considering the use of paper insulation treated with boric acid as a fire retardant. There is a bare sheet metal air handler in the attic.
Will the boric acid corrod the metal?
Any experience with the boric acid paper insulation with respect to keeping insects down?
Thank you,

Boracare rigid foam products are specified for just that-keeping insects out of exterior rigid foam insulation for foundations and under slab...........
so
I would assume the borates are for that purpose.
Contact the manufacturer of the product about that and the corrosion concerns-I'm no chemist.
Cellulose insulation, of course, is shredded paper, and is generally treated with a borate product both to control insects and as a fire-retardant (and possibly also to somewhat reduce dust).
I've never heard complaints of cellulose being a problem around ductwork.
