I saw that the other day too but their website has no mention of the change to the line.  Looks like a marketing gimmick if you read the box.

10.8v tools are on clearance at HD if you can find them.  Picked up the impact driver today for $99 with a rebate for the pocket driver.

Here in Nashville I found where there were some for $99 with the flashlight at one HD. Went to another store, they had the same driver w/flashlight for $179. Asked why the difference in price, "helpful orange apron guy" told me the other store had twice the volume in sales and they could sell them for less. "Yeah, right". Called my daughter and asked her to check at a third HD. They had one for $99 w/flashlight. She grabbed it for me and then gave it to me. Said she had been looking for a gift for me.

Just bought the $99 Impactor + flashlight last week. Was at HD today for some other stuff and thought I would stroll through the tool dept and see how the Litheon stuff was doing. Impactors were all gone, display board Pocket Driver had a tag (no price) that just said 'discounted'. Looked for boxed stock and found none (they still had the angle drills-no discount). So, asked orange apron about buying the display sample Pocket Driver (just the tool, no battery, nothing else), got that for $50 out the door which is fine 'cause I already have 2 chargers and 4 batteries. Apron said the discontinued price for the Pocket Driver is currently $99, just like the Impactor. OK, so now I have all 3 tools of the Litheon 10.8v .

Thanks for the heads up on that - I just picked the floor model from my local store... couldn't get them under the $99 though.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Figured it was time to repay the group since I've learned a lot here which in turn has saved me time and money working on my house and at work.

Used mine for the first time last night to drive some screws in OSB.  Worked great but between the led lights and the noise, it drove our puppy nuts.

        1. mackzully | Jul 09, 2008 09:02pm | #10

Give the impactor some time to break in. I've noticed that mine has gotten quieter and more powerful after a couple hours of usage. My i-driver just got delivered. Very nice, extremely compact driver. I wasn't going to buy it, but getting extra two batteries isn't much less than buying the i-driver, and I get an extra charger PLUS the free regular driver, so it's steal for all that. I also picked up a Bosch DLR laser rangefinder. Nice unit, extremely small and ruggedly designed. It easily measured the distance between my building and the hotel next door (111' 7"), and was repeatedly within 1/2" on the multiple measurements I took. They've $20 rebate on it right now making it ~$120...Perhaps getting all my Craftsman cordless tools stolen wasn't so bad ;) I'd be nice though if I could use all my new tools to lobotomize the mf'ers who stole them all...Z

Thanks. I picked up the impact driver, too. Looks like the free-bare-pocket-driver rebate goes through the 15th.

The stores in ATL only appear to have the impactor on clearance. The I-driver is still $149- I've had one for ~21 mo.s and really like it. Trying to get my Dad to pick one up, too.

I did check w/ Bosch and it's only a label change to 12V, so batteries should still be interchangeable.

Now, if they'd only made the slick new blade guard for the 4100 table saw fit the 4000 series, too. They'd sell a lot of guards, but they won't sell me a new saw anytime soon.

I just picked up the last Impactor our HD had, but there was no rebate for the driver. Where did you see that? I'm happy with the impact driver, but driver would be sweet. Now you see this one-eyed midget

        Shouting the word "NOW"

And you say, "For what reason?"

        And he says, "How?"

And you say, "What does this mean?"

And he screams back, "You're a cow

        Give me some milk

        Or else go home"

Thanks... it will amaze me if this works out...well, without me having to put to put something on Mrs Snort's credit card<G> Now you see this one-eyed midget

I have both and they each have there place.

I use the driver more then impactor b/c it's more comfortable to use (no impacting) and most of the screws I'm driving with it are small so there is little need for the extra power.

The impactor does come in handy though in tight spaces with larger screws.  If I had bought the impactor first I doubt I would have bought the driver.   The extra batteries are nice though.

          3. Snort | Jul 10, 2008 03:18am | #16

I've had no problem drilling up to 3/8" with an impact driver... if it fits in the chuck, I'll try it<G>... using a drill as an impact driver has been a bit problematic!Hey, I never congratulated you on your win... never thought thought you would totally kick our butts like that... you had a hellava team... sucked doubly cause Mrs Snort's family's from Memphis...double whammy.Kansas was it... arrrgh LOL Now you see this one-eyed midget

I just came across this, while pokin' 'round the web.
If you read the comments down below, they seem to be sayin' that the "new" 12v is the same as the "old" 10.8v.http://www.toologics.com/Manufacturer_News/Bosch/Bosch_Announces_FL11_LED_Flashlight!_20080702830.html

Thanks for the congrats,  I twas a stressfull final four to watch.

The game against NC was probably better then the final game.  Roy is a stand up guy, I always thought it, but it's comments after the game about the Kansas showed a lot.

Any idea if the batteries will be interchangeable with 10.8V stuff? Fscking hell, I *just* bought their complete 10.8V lineup!

    Z

    1. bc | Jul 08, 2008 06:23pm | #5

ya it looks like it is interchangeable, and i think it still may be 10.8v just a marketing thing... 12v power. supposedly they are going to be releasing 8 tools for this line up.

next thing out is the led light:

      1. CAGIV | Jul 08, 2008 07:23pm | #6

do you know what other tools they are planning on releasing?

        1. bc | Jul 08, 2008 08:47pm | #7

i wish i did.  most likely add a saw. Supposedly the tools will be released in the next month. I would gladly give up my bulky tools for this line.

Makita is also coming out with a mini line...
