I’ve got a Bosch 1199VSR hammer drill, and the chuck is slipping with masonry bits. Which direction, from the front of the chuck, do I spin it for a removalectomy?

One might consider that as the drill rotates in the normal direction it is tightening the connection.

I don't know if this applies to Bosch, but my B&D has an allen screw in the bottom of the chuck that holds it on. Open the chuck all the way and look down in there.
and it's a left hand thread...

Those little drill bits can be hell iffin you let them seat on that allen screw.
Don't ask me how I know this
No screw in the bottom. There is a hole in the housing for a shaft locking shiv. With no screw, I am assuming it was put on with some force... and I've gone the wrong way before<g>http://www.tvwsolar.com

the chuck shaft is RH thread...
put a reallllllllllllly big allen wrench in the chuck by the short arm...
smack the allen wrench's long arm with a BFM or a DBH...
takes gorilla to get to come loose..

go get a nut and bolt...
pretend the bolt is the drill's shaft and the nut is the chuck...

I took a look

It always amazes me how slow the bosch servers are. You would think they should be on top of that.
Not sure if this wil post but the drill display pdf shows no screw.
There is no screw, and those I've dealt with in the past have all been reverse threaded. Pretty sure Marty's got it right, allen key and a BFH<G>http://www.tvwsolar.com
