Anybody having problems with the fence on the Bosch 4100 table saw ?I’ve been using mine for about a year now without any real problems but yesterday noticed that the fence tilts out of perpendicular / square to the table when I tighten it down. I cleaned everything possible, checked for broken parts, adjusted the rear tension but when the fence is locked down it seems to torc itself about a 1/8″ to the right of the blade. The only ( temporary ) solution I have is to spring clamp the left hand side of the fence down onto the track it runs in / on. Any ideas ? this is driving me crazy since it essentially renders the saw usless. Thanks.

I have the original 4100 and have had no problem whatsoever with the fence. I had a motor problem taken care of by my supplier way after warranty.
It's not the lightest thing in the world, but being as it's portable-take it back to your tool supply........if that's where you got it.
Otherwise, and I've not really tried this, but have you tried to contact bosch-a quality company like them should at least offer suggestions if this has been a reported problem.
Best of luck.

I went out to the shop and took a look at the fence on mine. I'd like you to do the same. Flip it over and look at the latching mechanism. On mine, there's a small plate that is what pushes against the saw rail. It is held in place with two small phillips screws. Mine moves around, not fastened tight (don't know if it's supposed to move, but it is held in place by the two screws, yet moves front to back a bit, easily.
If one end of that plate is being pinched between the the fence latching body and the rail, it would cause one side of the latch block to not seat properly.
or,
there's something under there, keeping it from flattening out.
Maybe.

Thanks Calvin, I checked the plate that you mentioned, played with it a little to see if I could get the fence to seat better but to no avail. I finally went back to the supplier where I bought the saw. We compared my fence to one in the store and could find no obvious flaw, worn parts or any real difference. When I locked my fence into their saw it still tilted away from the blade althpogh not as much as on mine. Lots of head scratching all around. I am going to adjust the 4 screws that are on the top of the fence next, maybe take the damn thing apart, which will probably leave me with fence shaped paperweight ! Wishing I had bought the Rosseau stand ..
except that it's maybe 6 degrees out.........
I'll try to remember to take another look, but that small block with the two screws seems to be what clamps it down. Did your plate move around or were the screws tight?
They should have given you the new one to try on your saw, what the heck. Do you live far away from the supplier?
I just read your first post and now I'm not sure I understand.
Does the fence end up out of square to the blade?
or
does it not sit flat on the table?
