I ran across a very good buy on the Bosch cordless 12 volt mutitool in a kit with a drill and flashlite. Bought it. The question I have is about the battery’s. I have an old compact Bosch 10.8 cordless drill which is my reach for drive on small jobs.
I tried the 10.8 volt battery in my 12 volt multi tool and it worked fine. Then I tried the 12 volt in the 10.8 drill and it worked fine as well. Am I endangering either tool doing this?

Talk to Bosch.
On various things I have found them to be forthcoming with information.
or
wait for someone better versed in battery power than this dumb carpenter.
thanks and best of luck.
I think the general rule with the newer systems is that if the battery fits it's OK to use -- many lines of tools are now designed to fit several different voltage batteries (and vice-versa) to allow manufacturers to mix/match to hit a price point. (And it's fairly easy to make batteries NOT fit, if needed to either prevent invalid configs or simply prevent use of a cheaper replacement battery.) But that's just a general rule -- there may be (almost certainly are) exceptions.
I would be careful about overloading a tool while using the "wrong" (in either direction) battery, until I had some reassuring words from the manufacturer, but even if the configuration isn't "officially" supported a 1.2 volt difference isn't going to upset many applecarts.
Bosch is being a weasle with it's battery voltage ratings. The 12v and 10.8v systems are EXACTLY THE SAME. Bosch started putting 12v on their systems because they didn't want to seem aneamic to other competitios products... and justified it by saying the batteries put out 12v when they were first charged!
