Bosch cordless tools

seeyou | Posted in Tools for Home Building on March 9, 2004 02:21am

Was in Lowes today, looking at a Bosch 18v cordless drill. I say looking, because the display was hooked to the display shelf so it could not be picked up to get a feel for it. The Bosch rep just happened to be standing near by and saw me fumbling with the thing and came over and cut the band that was holding it down. I picked it up and liked the feel of it. The rep explained that while supplies lasted, he’d give away a 5 3/8″ cordless saw with cordless drill purchases. Anyway, I walked out with an 18v cordless drill and saw for $219+tax. Might be worth perusing your local Lowes if your in the market for either tool.

    CCCRAAAAP!

This always happens to me!   I just paid about $220 online a month ago for an 18V Brute tough cordless drill.  Don't get me wrong, I love the thing but I sure could have used a frickin' free cordless circ saw.  Good for you man.  That's a steal.

Maybe Greencu could go buy himself 3 more cordleses and give us the saws so we won't feel so left out....

Well, guys, if it makes you feel better, you got GREAT drills!

Now, go online and sign up for the Bosch service plan, and IF you have ANY problem, you call toll free, they send you a new one and you hand yours right back to the UPS man in the same box with the label the provide. Details at the site....

Now, I happen to have their cordless 24Volt saw, and I must say, of all the Bosch tools I own, and it's a lot, it is, by far, my least favorite.  That thing drains the battery faster than a redneck drains a Bud at a tractor pull in the hot July Alabama sun!

( I mentioned this to the Bosch folk at the Home Builders show, and the rep shook his head in quiet agreement. "Not our best effort")

Too bad they aren't giving away their new jigsaw!Jake Gulick

Was modifiying a old deck to day(shorting it). So I had to straight cut 22 2x6" redwood and got 1side of a 2x6" hemfir when the fresh charged 14.4 bat quit. I thought that was ok.It is the 5+3/8" unit. But with the 15 minute charger it's no longer an issue. I first got the 14.4v brute, then wanted some more batteries so ended up getting another 14.4 combo that had the saw and the drill, but not the brute but it still had the 1/2" chuck and the high speed.1500rpm so it went for 199$ for the combo. I think that can still be had.
