Got a bosch spline hammer drill, only a couple of bits, which are $20-$50 ea with the spline.
All the spline to sds adapters I see have the full sds chuck — anybody know of a spline to sds that does not have the big chuck, just the spline to a set screw sds cavity??
Will likely make an A taper to sds adapter (have a spline to A taper adapter, easier than making the spline) if there is not a low weight spline/sds adapter.

Bosch makes an adaptor, part # HA-1020. I found it for ~$50 at Ace Tool. Here is a link:

Why would you want a setscrew adaptor? The big spline drive tool can move the chuck mass, no problem. If you had to make your own, all you would need was a 10mm hole with a setscrew for retention and a pair of keys to transfer the torque. The keys are the tricky part. Me, I'd just buy the adaptor, or an SDS-Plus drill.

Thanks for the reply
Have seen lots of the spline to chuck adapters, wanted a 'skinnier' adapter to drill at the bottom of a recessed hole that the chuck wont fit into and is deeper than most sds bits.
Already have a spline to A taper adapter, so will probably make an sds to an A taper adapter which is pretty easy, will use 4340M steel. The key will get made by simply forging the hole in the adapter down around the shank of a worn out sds bit. (have lathe and forge to do the job, time is the limit nowadays)
Got the Bosch at a garge sale for $10 which is why I use that one, HF has the entire sds drill for $44.95 at times, but not sure how the steel on the chuck on those would hold up.
Hey, man, I love your resourceful spirit. If you just have one hole size to do deep, have you considered just welding on a bit extender made from a worn out spline bit? I'm not 100% sure what your application is, or if you have a sacrificial bit to use.Bill
The rental centers have boxes of worn out bits that they would give you just to get rid of them.
That's a good idea!
