My recently purchased Bosch table saw failed yesterday. I was ripping a bevel in a piece of 1×3 red oak to fab a transition between my tiled kitchen and the room next to it. About 2/3 through the cut, the saw started to make a weird noise. I finished the cut, turned off the saw, and it sounded like a ratchet.
I bought the saw on Amazon.com about a month ago. I looked at www.Boschtools.com and found a service center closeby. Has anyone had to deal with them, how long does it take, do they give you any hassles, etc. I don’t want to be forever without a tablesaw, you know what I mean?

Couple years back I had a cordless drill clutch go out, after an hour of drywall screws, which I had bought thru harbor freight-factory reconditioned/factory perfect for like $79. 5 bucks to send it in. They fixed it and sent it back no charge or shipping. Good deal I thought so I bought another from HFreight again. Same thing happens. I send it in and they sent me back a new newer model drill. No charge or extra shipping charges. Needless to say when I buy new cordless drills I go for Bosch since they feel right and reverse switch is easy thumb control and no more problems. I would think they will take care of you with no hassles. Call the toll free # and tell them what happened. They'll tell you what to do.

It failed after only a month?
Sounds like it should be completely covered by the manufacturer's warranty - I mean it's practically brand new, right? You didn't go using it as an anchor while you were fishing, did you? You didn't start your own sawmill with it, did you?
So, no abuse of the machine while you owned it. Hell, you may be able to return the whole thing for a complete refund and get a whole new saw from Amazon or somewhere else.
Read your warranty papers that came with the machine. No, you don't have to return the little postcard to activitate your warranty - it's automatic.
It is practically brand new. It's just such a hassle to return, it's bigtime heavy, and I'm in the middle of the project for which I purchased the saw in the first place. Hoping I can drop it off at the local authorized repair vendor, pick it up in a few days with a new motor installed.
I have the same saw. I hope this isn't a trend.If you paid by credit card give your credit card company a call. It may be backed by them in addition to the Bosch and Amazon policy. The thing is that both Amazon and Bosch really need to stay in the good graces of MC and Visa. So you, through the credit card companies, may have leverage.
I would find out about the CC companies policy and then keep that as a back up if Amazon or Bosch give you the run around. Let us know how things turn out. Advertising the treatment you receive, good or bad, also can be a small deterrent to poor performance.
I called my local shop yesterday, they said bring it on in. I called today to find out what was what, and they said the motor was fried, they have a new motor on order, it should be ready by Friday. No hassles, no problems.
They also said that this was the first time anyone had ever brought one of these Bosch saws in, and they sell a lot of them. So I wouldn't think this is a trend, but rather an unusual occurance.
Years ago, I fried the armature on a Bosch router. It was at least 6 months out of warranty, but I took it to the local Bosch repair center. They couldn't fix it, and returned the router to the factory. A couple of weeks later, a brand new router came UPS. No charge. One happy customer.

Glad to hear that it seems to be working out. The irony is that no matter the cost of good service and any motor replacements it pales compared to the value of the word off mouth, or internet, this sort of report gives them. You can't buy better advertising. Every company will ship a few substandard units. Better companies will do everything possible to keep this a rare occurrence. The real test is how they handle it when substandard units are found.
