Bracing Cast In Place Foundation Walls
I’m a custom home builder in Colorado and I always ignore the note on my structural drawings either brace the concrete foundation walls or install the floor framing prior to backfilling. As does every other builder I have ever seen here since installing the floor framing prior to backfilling would be challenging and framing crews would likely reject those conditions. I’ve looked at using tilt-up concrete braces but they are extremely expensive, about $500 each for a 5′ – 8′ brace. I’m thinking of using some steel “L” brackets to temporarily install some 2 X 10’s with 45’s cut on each end.
Does anyone brace their walls before backfilling? If so, how?
Thanks.

We always framed the floor system b/4 backfill. Saw a few (not many)buckled block jobs that didn’t frame the floor prior to backfill.
Poured walls? Beats me, we were set in our ways and framed the same.
Learned and worked with an excellent framer. First thing he taught-NEVER back up.
