It’s a shame that here at Breaktime – where the audience is perfectly suited for folks looking to buy and sell good quality tools that we all seem to ignore the classified section.
Why is this? Most of us have bought or sold thru Ebay, and most other tool/wood related discussion web sites have a better trafficed reader classified. Problem is – those wood working sites are not that suited for dumping most of the kind of tools that these folks here would need to either obtain or get rid off.
I realize that Ebay is the place tgo buy and sell – and have done so very often, but it is a bit of a process to list something on Ebay, and it is sometimes just easier to put up a quick ad in a place like this and sell it to someone you may have even conversated with.
It’s not that the items that are listed are bad deals – it’s a combination of not much listed and not much interest in the few there are.
I myself have a ton of stuff I need to get rid off due to upgrades and better deals and extra stuff, etc. like an extra Bosch 18 volt combo kit, Bosch door template, PC laser, PC brad gun, Paslode finish gun and a bunch more, but Breakitime’s classified’s are a virtual ghosttown.
Anybody else care? Is there something that can be done to make it more prominent – or am I the only one here with extra tools to sell and then – extra money to buy more tools?

In order to get people to use it you have to post your tools in it. Go ahead. See what happens. The response is usualy pretty good.
Tipi fest 06. I'm getting wood.
I have in the past with not much interest. My point was not neccessarily that I've had a hard time selling things there but that not many of us choose to utilize it as a resource. Quite different than most other web discussion groups that I've observed.JT
I'm one that would love to see more stuff there, but I probably won't post much of my own stuff. That's for a couple reasons- the stuff I'm getting rid of is not worthy (anyone here want to pay for that black and decker jigsaw I bought for 1 job, and still have 2 years later?), and I usually end up giving stuff away or selling it cheap to relatives or friends that are in need.
Maybe I'll find some stuff to post one of these days.zak
"so it goes"
Man you made my day, looking for a Black and Decker saw. lol
I don't know why, but I'll agree that there wasn't much interest when I posted there.
Things I listed seemed like there'd be a buyer, but I still have them.
Ebay's too much effort or I'd do it. Maybe next time I'm snowed in I'll try again.

I still have that Freud Blade..mebbe I can jack it up to 50 bucks..LOL

Now that's not something I advertised. Seems it came up in a thread about something else and I mentioned buying it by mistake for my Delta Sawboss or whatever that old slider is called.
It takes an 8" blade, I bought that Freud thinking it was the one but not so. Doesn't fit your saw too?
The junk I posted I still have. Need a Paslode positive placement nailer? A bunch of Panasonic bath fans? Rockwell hinge jig set? Case of Panasonic flourescent bulbs? A set of Burrit roof kickers? Can't think of what else, but it's still here somewhere. Oughta Ebay that Delta saw too, it's a big bucks item there for some reason.

Oh it fits the saw just fine, I need BRUSHES for the frikkin POS tho'.
I actually have the blade in my Table saw as we speak...a smaller diam. and thinkerf is awesome..like having 5 more HP ripping really hard stuff.
Tell me about the pos place nailer..email if ya don't wanna hijack.

one of the "problems" with BT is that IIRC the first 50 threads with the newest posts to them show up in the list of threads.I logged in this morning read some, and logged out.In the my forums page it tells you how many new posts have been made since your last login, since this mornig, 398 new posts. So, unless I caught something with the right timing I would not see a post in classified. I would have to go to that folder to see what was new.so unless I was looking for something I would not go there.

Ok - so I've posted a list of everything I can think of - take a look, see what you think...JT
Julian,
I check it every day hoping someone will have a couple of the tools on my wish list.
Post your stuff!
-Kit
I just about check it every day. No one really posts much there. With all the tool junkies on this site, Id think stuff would go pretty well. I'd say post your stuff and see what happens.
Maybe it was something on your end??? Description wasn't good, price to high, etc..... I know I have seen stuff in the local papers listed pretty close to what I can get it brand new for at Lowes. Im sorry, but Im not going to buy a used tool at 80% the cost I can get it new, in most cases it just isnt worth the risk.

I wonder if a mini-auction might not be workable and fun.
Say post an item with a minimum, set a time limit, and see what happens.
Buyer pays price + shipping.
"Citius, Altius, Fortius"
I check every new post there.
I've bought 3 times, but only posted to two threads where I wasn't interested in the item.
Tool junkies selling tools? Just doesn't happen very often.
Well, I'm a tool junkie - and because I am - I'm always looking out for great deals or cool tools that'll make a job easier or faster. And when I get something new it usually means that something I had - I no longer need.I guess the diff with me is that I can't stand to have stuff around ($money) that I'm not using. Most people are more content with stuff piling up around them even if they don't use it. I hate the thought of having spent the money and know that I'll never be using something again. I have a biscuit joiner that I use infrequently - but I do use it sometimes. All of the extra stuff I have to sell I'll never use because they've already been replaced.JT

Anything you need now? I'm seriously thinking of putting my "extra" GULP tools for sale.
What are those?JT
I'm thinking of parting ways with a porter cable trimsaw, with metal case and edge guide, several new blades. Barely used.
I don't know if I can though. Maybe baby steps with some other stuff. I've rarely let go of anything. Got some nice corded drills too. Some are brand new even.
If you were asking what "extra" tools are, I don't really know, unless they are Skil (in general), Black and Decker consumer type, or some Ryobi. But I like my Ryobi AP12 planer, and my Skil wormie.
the little worm drive?
let me know.
ok ... I might have a "little circ saw" problem ... as I'm in line to buy Julians sawboss ... but I'd still like to have both!
How much ... what model?

It's the 314 wormdrive trimsaw. I barely used it. I have the metal case and a few blades, plus the edge guide. I think there are 3 or 4 carbide blades (new) and 3 plywood steel blades, and the original combination steel blade. It's a sweet saw. Let me think on the price a bit. I know I paid a load of cash for that little thing.

You need to post the tools in an ad before anyone can buy them. UI've bought a couple here.
