Hello,
I recently purchased an exterior pre-hung door to replace the rotten one to the crawl space. Very standard and came with PVC brick mold. The brick mold had a groove all the way around on towards the outside about 1/4 inch deep. I wasn’t expecting this. Would this be for flashing to be inserted that would mounted flush from house? Would not be appropriate on top if drip cap was installed? Appreciate the advice.

I can honestly say I have never seen that.
I’d ask where I got the door.
And come back here and fill us in.
The feedback I got overnight was the brick molding is also used for windows and the groove has nothing to do with door installation. The groove is for window screens, which I guess means it is reversed on the inside. Hard for me to see that I am not confident in the sales person I bought from. Will just ignore the groove and install.
