I’d like to build a brick path that runs from my front door to the driveway. It would replace an existing path that is a simple run of 2×2 flagstones. I’m thinking a five foot wide brick path. If you look at my house from the street, the door is roughly in the middle, and the driveway is on the right. The driveway slopes down to the garage, which is under the house. The path would come out the door and hook around to connect to the driveway, about half way between the top and bottom. My question is, how do I deal with the fact that the path would intersect the driveway at a slope? The path would be about six inches out of level side to side if I followed the contour of the lawn. Should I allow that, or should I build some sort of step to keep the path level? If I do the step, I could either cut into the ground on the higher side of the slope, and have a step down from the driveway, or build up the lower side of the slop, and have a step up from the driveway. On the one hand, I’m afraid that a step would cause people to trip. On the other, I feel that the path should be level across its width.
I appreciate any ideas, thanks

I would start the step @ 1" above high side level across to @7" above low side.
