I have a house that is constructed of 2×4’s with a 4″ brick veneer finish.
I want to either a) put cement fiberboard or vinyl siding over the brick veneer or
b) put stone veneer over the brick veneer.
Are these options possible? Should the brick veneer be removed down to the 2×4 wall studs?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thank you.

I'm by no means an expert in this area but I wouldnt cover over a brick veneer with a stone veneer.
It cant be all that hard to take the brick veneer off and start over. You'd have your brick ledge and when you get to the top you wont have to worry about how to finish the top of the stone veneer off.
As far as putting vinyl over the existing brick veneer, I dont even know how you'd pull that off and make it look good!

Requests like this usually provoke responses like " You should think about buying a different house before you consider doing something like this. "
Is the brick that ugly ?
You certainly could use an applied stone veneer ( a cultured thin stone ) over the bricks. For what that would cost, I think I would remove the bricks and replace them with more attractive ones.
Vinyl siding over brick ? Yes it can be done but the treatment around all of the window and door openings would be crass.
