I have a 15 year old David White builders level, which i think is past it’s prime. It sometimes is 3/8” out in 40′ after seting up on oppisite ends of the house. What do you all think of other brands on new builders levels?

I have CST Berger site and lazer levels. All have performed well in the field. The Tripods and grade rods are a little cranky if they're beat around in the bed of a truck for very long. Accuracy is not a problem with any of mine. All have (+,- 1/8" @ 100') accuracy. I check them periodically per the instructions.
That said, as with most thing, levels seem to made chaper these days. I've had several people tell me that if you have to send a level off to be worked on (non-warranty), you may as well purchase a new one. I guess it's the "throw away world" we live in.

I have mostly all Stabila levels and haven't had any problems with them except for losing an endcap once.. nothing major. They get beat up pretty good and I've had some that heve been dropped from great heights.. one even got run over with a boom lift once and was still working fine..
