I am helping friends find a contractor to build a modern/zen like Trex deck to hold a soaking tub, water feature and shower. The landscape designer sold them on a design but now he cant get it built. They wanted to know if I could or get someone to lay the Trex. By looking at the site, there is little or no substructure design. The landscape designer pretty much asked me what do you think will work?? I have introduced a fellow WW’ing who has deck building experience but he wont touch it without adaquate permits, proper structure designed to support the deck. This is a 2 million home and not considered a weekend project with left over project wood. I have no experience building decks or time, i am a DIYer with little time as it is on the weekends so my roll is to basically help friends get this thing done.
Any input on how to work with them on this?
I plan to tell the homeowner/friend and their landscape designer to find an architect, design a sound substructure for the Trex and get proper permits?
Of course, this project has taken too much time because others have turned the landscape designer down.
thanks Chris

Yep , or a structural engineer .
And tell the landscape designer he /she should have told the owners that in the begining, irresponsible on the designers part.
