Building a stone/brick BBQ pit in b’yard
I’ve wanted to do this for years, but am finally interested in tackling the project this fall. A couple questions about brick/stone BBQ’s…….
– Do I need a permit?
– Does anyone know of any websites or books with photo ideas or plans?
Thanks

Try the following web site. It has links to various other sites for building a back yard BBQ. I came accross this while looking for plans to build a new Gas Grill.
Hope this helps:

Take a look at http://www.thesmokering.com/ There are some examples of people that built several different versions and lots of other good barbeque "stuff", too.
No you don't need a permit. But I wouldn't go and ask the building department about it either.
I don't know of a website or book but there is an episode of "I Love Lucy" in which Lucy and Ethel [re]build a BBQ. A very interesting plot line involving a diamond ring, a kite, Long Island Sound, an old shirt and brick & mortar.
This is the way situation comedies should be written. They don't sem to do this anymore.

There are a few interesting plans here, too:
