Building me sum sawhorses part dew

bobbys | Posted in General Discussion on May 2, 2009 11:18am

Neighbor left some joists, I put on my tinking hat for a few months on what to do with them..

I needed some longer horses to set some fence panels on and thought this wood be better then 4 horses.

I just took a 2 by 8 scrap nailed it on the bottom cut the legs and bada bing Bada bang Bada boom Done.

There very light, My only design flaw was using sheetrock screws for the legs but i thought with Piffin being in Maine and me here in OR i could get it by him.

But no they snapped so i used deck screws{ I dont think the neighbors will miss a few screws!!!}.

      Huch,

Now we need a engineer to build saw horses?

Got'a wonder how we ever landed on Mars with a roaming piece of equipment designed by undergrads, that still keeps  roaming and sending images of the planet back several years past the time NASA "engineers" predicted its demise.

I'm just not convinced those TJIs are rated for exterior application.  Although they'd probably be OK for the workshop, Jon.

Actually the top flange of the TJI looks to be carrying the load under the current design and the TJI isn't engineered for that, bottom chord bearing only. Bobbys is going to need an Stamped letter from the manufacturer of the TJI certifying the use of their product in this application.

A few months?!!! I think you mean a few years. The date/time stamp says 2007.

And that square....I hate those kinds because they have different number graduations on the tongues and bodies. That drives me nutty.

  5. jimAKAblue | May 03, 2009 07:25am | #7

I forgot to mention: nice horses. Fast, simple, strong. You can add a 12' 2x4 on the flat on top and you have 12' horses lol!
