Building polyiso box around IC rated can light
I see a lot of suggestions on using the Tenmat can light covers made of mineral wool. I know can lights can produce a lot of heat and I watched an old podcast last night discussing with how a DIY box of polyiso can melt and cause a fire. Does this still present a problem with IC rated LED can lights? I have new IC rated can lights (Halo E4ICATSB) and I originally wanted to build a box of polyiso to air seal each can light since the fixture is square – I assumed the Tenmat covers would make just as much work for a lot more cost.
Any suggestions on using polyiso to box/airseal around IC rated can lights?

Those cans are rated air tight. Why do you need additional sealing?
I took the foam off the baffle I installed since it was black against the white ceiling - I couldn’t get the light flush with the ceiling. And I figured I could get a much more controlled better seal. But you bring up a really good point. Maybe I’m just stuck in my head.
