Hi Barry – I wouldn’t worry too too much about voiding the warranty on the paper by adding extra adhesive-you’ll only be using the adhesive on the strip immediately above the tub so maybe 6 sq feet at the most. The rest of the paper will remain under warranty (and wallpaper warranties are debatable anyway).
I would just soak according to the instructions…it should be just fine. If it starts to lift over time, a little border adhesive or seam repair should take care of it.
Good Luck to you

I'm papering a bathroom wall with pre-pasted vinyl paper. I intend to size the walls with Zinsser Shieldz, but I wonder if there's a way to better ensure adhesion on the wall area above the bath tub. That area will get a bit more steamy moisture than the rest of the room. The exhaust duct is on the ceiling just outside of the shower curtain area. Any special adhesives anyone's used?

*You can buy heavy duty adhesives and past the paper yourself, but that will probably void whatever warranty the paper came with.If it is a good quality vinyl paper, and you follow the instructions on wetting (although I have found some papers should be in the water LESS than the instructions call for) and booking, you shouldn't have any problems. However, you should avoid bathing or showering for at least 24 hours after the installation.Be sure not to apply too much pressure at the seams which can push paste out and lead to problems later. After all that, if a problem does start to arise, it will be at a seam. Glue it down with a good quality seam adhesive and you should then be down with it.Rich Beckman
*Rich,Thanks for the advice. Also, here in western Wisconsin, we don't have a problem waiting 24 hours after papering before showering. Anything beyond a week, however, could get a bit uncomfortable.Barry
