My foundation contractor had to pour one of our large column (12”x12” kdat) footings at basement grade because it’s location was on the edge of the over excavation area for the basement, which is going to be backfilled later to finished grade, roughly 8’ higher.

 

I don’t want to just bury 8’ of wood in the ground, what’s a good option here?
