Looking to buy a laser level in the coming days. It will be used inside and outside. I’d like something that can level a large deck, house, etc…Can the Stabila – LAX-100 Line Laser Level do the job?

we've owned a couple -two-three
I also own a builder's level / transit
the one we use all the time now is the cheap Stanley..Fat Max
costs about $100.....
do you use the builder's level at all, or just the Stanley laser level? Do you find it accurate enough over long distances...50 feet + ?
typical set up is inside a building... say 40 x32... so we're really talking about maybe 25'
want a siding reference line ? set up in the center of the floor.... shoot the 4 walls drive some nails
want to level a foundation ? set it on a step ladder in the middle... get a nice background like a 2x2 pc of plywood... shoot
most use is just not that far awayMike Hussein Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
if i were staking a lot i'd probably revert to my builder's transit level.... say 100' to 150'Mike Hussein Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore

Which Fatmax model would that be?

I use the same one, Look in the tool corrall at home depot. It is about 97 dollars and shoots a horizontal line, vertical line or both. I think mine may be a little inaccurate after two years of hard use that included several falls on a hard surface. It is really handy and at 97 dollars I don't feel like I have to handle it too cautiously so it gets a lot more use than a more costly unit might.KarlIf you go to this link it is the one in the middle of the page.http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?TYPE=CATEGORY&CATEGORY=ELECTRONIC+TOOLS
Probably a bit more than you need, but for those interested...
I just tried out a demo of the new Hilti spinner with the green beam. They claim it is 5 times more visible than red lasers. i don't know about 5 times, but it was much easier to see outside in the sunlight.
Very expensive though, I think its about $2400.00. Does a lot of tricks though, especially with the remote. Comes with batteries and charger.
