I haven’t had much luck buying 4×6 posts that won’t warp.
Even the pressure treated ones I bought years ago are now twisted.
Am I better off finding “kiln dried” posts and applying some weatherproofing ?
OR
should I just build my own posts by nailing two or three 2×6 pieces together ?

Treated wood is the worst. It comes wet and when it drys out can twist even if it is nailed down. Any wood has the potential for twisting. Your best bet is buying a premium post with straight grain. Doug fir would be my choice.
