Looking good.
I still get the look. I had a helper that was in his 50's, and every customer would talk to him like he was the boss. Even after I would explain the situation, they just refused to believe that the younger guy was accountable.
PS. I don't know what the designers are thinking with staggering the cabinets like that. It's all the rage lately. I hate all the small returns that I have to cut.
i agree, staggering only looks good when cabinet depth is increased... fortunatly designers are doing it less often after seeing what i charge for all those returns
I think you missed a handle in picture 003. Nice stuff.
Pretty work. I like the staggered stuff a lot, much more interesting than flat banks. Very nice cutting on that rope moulded valence. Is the chase on that range hood sheetrocked? I'm filing that...now, get some more experience, and post some more...ha,ha,ha "what's in a name?" d'oh!
Good work bro-----
I know the feeling......I'm 21, and I've got some looks like that too.
Boss sent me in to do a custom jacuzzi tile job once---sent a 40 year old "cut man" with me.
I was laying tile when I heard the owner complaining to my cut man that "he didn't want his bathroom to be a 'training newbie' job.....LOL
I had to laugh when my helper said, "i'm the one getting trained"
Owner had nothing but compliments when I was finished though.
When in doubt, get a bigger hammer!
don't worry about it, I'm 23 and get the same looks...it's tough to get the credibility sometimes. But if all goes well, the work speaks for itself anyway - then the look on their face is priceless!Justin Fink - FHB Editorial
yea that hood is sheet rock. id rather see it in wood, then again, im not paying for it lol
Dunno, I like the clean look of the sheetrock...I've seen some real ugly wooden ones<G> "what's in a name?" d'oh!

Yeah, that white sticks out. I think I would have liked it better wood covered, dark painted, or some decorative crap on it. Plain white just really jumps at ya.
Looks like some first class installations. Keep the pics coming.

1st class installation of some really ugly kitchens. All that dark wood, more suitable for film noir sets. And that microwave extractor thingy over the cooker, unbelievable. It would be great if you could get the designer to come on this forum and apologise
John
Where do you live? These are pretty typical.
Got any pictures of your quality cabinets?

Nr Swindon (in England), it does say so in my profile
Got any pictures of your quality cabinets?
Yes, I have, actually, but I don't have an issue with the quality, which I'm sure is very good. I've already said that the installation is 1st class too. I'll see if I can find a suitable picture to add later
Does that monstrosity over the equally hideous cooker look good to you? Also, do you like those dark cabinets in a kitchen?
If my baby don't love me no more, I know her sister will.

Microwave over the stove is great. And pretty common, at least around here. Efficent use of space.
And any color cabinet looks good if it fits in with it's surroundings.
I'd like to see those pictures. I always like something different.

Here's another way to do the cooker and extractor thing. The extractor fan is behind a pull-open panel above the ceramic hob which is set into the granite countertop, built-in oven below. Above three appliances are made by Bosch

Cool kitchen John but whats a SMEG refer? I assume thats a brand common to England. Is it old or a newer retro look?
Doug
Doug, SMEG is an Italian make of domestic appliances. I was quite surprised to see it on the market in the UK, due to it's similarity with the word 'smegma' which has a specific meaning and which wouldn't normaly be used in parlour conversation. Smegma also cropped up as a surname in Monty Python shows.
The SMEG stuff is pretty good, BTW. The HO's bought the retro look fridge first and had me make the kitchen cabinets to fit.

Then of course there is Smeg as general, all-purpose 4-letter word in the Red Dwarf series, no doubt inspired by Monty Python! I was surprised to see it on a fridge in the UK!
like anything else, tastes differ from place to place. i live in central florida. lately i have been installing darker cabinets on almost every job. just finished a cherry kitchen in a deep chocolate stain, very sharp looking with the right lighting... ill post pics of it when they develop. the wedgewood kitchen was in a home located in the middle of 1500 acers, it matched the country style of the house and wouldnt look right in any other situation.... and i agree, i work with some of the worst designers in the world and the more i complian about it the worse it gets lol.
